ensegrity® is a practice with shamanic origins, transmitted by Carlos Castaneda, Carol Tiggs, Florinda Donner Grau, and Taisha Abelar to their direct apprentices, and from them to a second generation of practitioners. These magical movements originated in a dreaming state experienced by the shamans of ancient Mexico, with whom Castaneda was in contact and from whom he inherited the knowledge and experiences he vividly recounts in his books. The shamans of ancient Mexico—who, thousands of years ago, had already succeeded in piercing the veil of the known and perceiving the universe as a flow of energy—devoted much of their time to exploring new possibilities of perception.
Through these explorations, they perceived human beings beyond ordinary physical form, as composed of a conglomerate of energetic filaments, forming a sort of luminous egg. Within this egg, all the filaments converge and gather in a point, brighter than all the others, which they called the “Assemblage Point” or the “Point of Union.” .
They also observed that the movement—or the rigidity—of this point determines our perception of both the inner and outer world. Consequently, they concentrated their efforts on discovering ways to “shift” the Assemblage Point, thus allowing access to the perception of New Worlds—real and concrete, just like the one we inhabit.
To this end, they developed, among other techniques, the Art of Dreaming—meaning the ability to enter deliberately, by shifting the Assemblage Point at will, into a state of lucid and conscious dreaming, transforming ordinary dreams into true gateways to other realities, where they discovered extraordinary wonders.
